Caring for Stray Dogs:
A Compassionate Community

Ways to Support Stray Dogs
Fostering Stray Dogs
Fostering stray dogs within our boarding capacity is a fantastic way to provide them with temporary care and support while they await their forever homes. It’s a compassionate act that not only improves the lives of these dogs but also eases the burden on overcrowded shelters. By opening our doors to these animals, Bark & Spark offers them a safe haven where they can receive love, attention, and socialization, which are crucial for their well-being.
Love knows no bounds when it comes to our furry friends.
The Plight of Stray Dogs in India
Around 35-40 million stray dogs inhabit the streets of India. Their lives are vastly different from their domesticated counterparts. While domesticated dogs enjoy the love and care of their homes, stray dogs live in survival mode, scavenging for food and facing constant threats. They are often misunderstood and stigmatized, viewed by many as a threat. However, these intelligent and brilliant creatures can be gentle, sweet, and protective if given proper care. Unfortunately, caring for stray dogs has long been frowned upon.
Stray dogs have been an integral part of the Indian subcontinent for millennia, yet they have mostly been ignored as pets. This neglect is largely due to a lack of knowledge and misconceptions about them. Fortunately, more people, especially the younger generation, are now adopting strays as pets. While adopting a stray is the best way to care for them, there are many other steps you can take if adoption is not an option.
